From the whole year?! Wouldn't have a clue =/

These 3 are from last week however, they are some of my favorites.

    I really love Sooshee's 3rd B&W on page 1, lovely portrait!

I really had to rack my brain to think if I'd even taken 3 portraits this year. It's not something I do a lot of even though I always enjoy the results.

My friend and his son at his son's 3rd birthday. Mamiya 645 Pro, 45mm f2.8 on Kodak Portra 400VC.

My girlfriend's son taken at the beach one winters day. The expression was rather surprising considering the whole time he was wondering why I was putting shells in his hand. Mamiya 645 Pro, 45mm 2.8 on Ilford Pan F developed in Ilfotec LC29.

My 97 year old Grandpa on Christmas Day. Still lives by himself. Still drives everywhere. Still walks up and down a path to his house that's too steep for someone his age. I'd been meaning to grab a portrait of him for sometime (for obvious reasons). Somewhat happy with it because he hates cameras, but I'll have to grab another at some point (in colour too) as I left this too late in the day and the 1/2 second exposure robbed a lot of sharpness from it. Shen Hao 4x5, 150mm Rodenstock 5.6 APO Siroar N, Ilford FP4+ developed in LC29.

A little late to the thread but this is one of my best portrait shots from the year (with only minimal pp)

Your grand dad looks like he has a good yarn or two in him. I like the sense of life etched into his face, easy to see he's opinionated though I'm guessing at the right times.

Nothing wonderful but these are my two most recent

This was just a quick snapshot - a future Liverpool supporter

How grandchildren react when they see a Nana with Tripod - they thought it very funny. I like the naturalness of this - trying to get them to pose was useless.

My stuff - Canon 450D (struggling with it) Panasonic FZ28 (love it) Pocket rockets - Kodak V550, Canon PS A580. PSP8, PS6.

LynEve - that non-posing group is great - shows a lot of character in the various kids reactions.
    Nikon D80, Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G, Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6, Nikon 35mm f/1.8G, Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 older screw-type, Nikon 70-300VR f/4.5-5.6G. Various filters and grads, elderly Velbon tripod (finger biter).

He's pretty much earned his right to be opinionated at his age. He's stubborn, but still has a lot of very modern beliefs. He's just started talking about WWII in the last few years too which is nice to hear and probably good for him to get off his chest.
One good thing I've discovered about large format portraits is in the slow nature of the beast, by the time everything's ready it brings a really nice honesty to peoples faces. Hiding behind the big chunk of wood and glass while conversing seems to almost be like a confessional. It's interesting, and something to explore with the new year ahead.
