Default Best place to get prints done in CHCH?

So Im starting to flirt with the idea of trying out getting some images printed. I am quite pleased with a couple of the dog shots I took of my friend Max, and was thinking it might make a nice present.

So having never done this before, where is the best place in CHCH to get prints done? I am looking for highquality good colour saturation and in a reasonable size (6x8 or bigger depending on price) - somewhere I could take a JPEF file in and they wont stuff around with it and oversharpen like one place I went to, but will print it as I have edited it?

Or am I going about this entirely the wrong way?

Are you just wanting a quick print done, or are you testing this company out for some bigger work?

I've had them done at Kens and the place in Merivale Mall.

    Both were great.

They were both really helpful as well in terms of how the image needed to be sharpened etc - the whole thing confused me a bit.

I use Photo warehouse, so does my mate who shoots weddings and he's picky. If you ask they wont retouch the images just print as is.

Had 10 A4's done the other week for $9 each.

If I wanted a quick print done I could go into any place with the machine and get it done. I want a quality print, not sure if its archival quality, but something that looks professional and expensive and is a good quality print.

If I get some prints done and give as gifts, I want people to think them worthy of getting framed and keeping. And I might want to get some prints of my own as a record of my own personal photography milestones

Thx for this, I dont mind a place that actually looks at your image while you are there and discusses changes. Its the place that accepted the image, and then decided to oversharpen it THEMSELVES and then presented me with the finished product and expected me to be happy about it *sigh*

My wife had a load done at one of those places in the mall - they turned my blonde kids hair green! And all their faces had stripes on them. The quality was shocking, and she still paid them

When I said the one in Merivale Mall, I meant the proper camera shop - the guy who posts on here sometimes, not one of those dodgy kodak kiosk places.

They did a great job on a couple of landscapes, that I had framed and gave as gifts.

    Yeh that's the fellas.

Great shop, they've always looked after me in there.
