    Default AF Point Problem?

    Hi Everyone,

Attached is a screen shot of a shot from my daughters birthday while in Aperture 3. As you can see, the right hand AF point is red. I note on a number of shots, this AF point is often red, yet I can't find what it means and suspect a camera fault? It is not limited to a particular lens.

Does anyone have any thoughts? It always seems this AF point shows red when I view it in the metadata view. The actual AF point used in the shot is bold white.

    Cheers

    Forgot the most important bit..

    Canon EOS 500D.

Also I should add that I normally shoot with the central AF point active and focus/recompose rather than change AF points - I have checked that the central AF point is the active one on these shots.

    Thanks and cheers

Quick google sugests the red one is the focus point Aperture 3 thinks was used.

Try dpp and see what it thinks on focus points.

Well done! Do you have a link to where you found the reference? I have been googling like crazy but have yet to find a reference as to what the actual colours on Apertures AF points mean.

I don't actually have DPP loaded as I run Snow Leopard and have yet to update to the latest version. I'll do it this afternoon and see what I get.

Thanks for your help and time!!

    Cheers

On the 40D you can have the camera display the focus point/s that was/were used when you display the picture. If that facility is on your camera, it would be interesting to see what the camera says and see if Aperture is telling the truth.
