The salesman at R&R sports told me of superior technology that he uses but he says nobody trusts it yet because it is so much smaller and lighter .
The fleece jacket I bought about 7 years ago so it may be a little outdated !

Well I made it to the 50km mark before the injuries and some bad river water got me down ..... [the blog ]maybe next summer when the days are longer I will go anti-clockwise so I cross the Turoa road early and have no escape route to chicken out later !

I'm limping around today still and drinking coke to help fix my stomach from the bad river water but I would still call it 'good fun' !
I had a memorable experience , met lots of interesting people and have a good story to tell

I should've taken a video of the double blister on my toe . After the third hut I put my socks on wrong and they bunched up in front of my right foot .... after 3 hours I had a big blister around my toe , and one underneath it that lifted it up and had the roots of the toenail on the outside ! I had to stab it twice with a needle since they were separate blisters .

what a tale, Desmond. you're a glutton for punishment, even if you still call the trip "good fun"

The pain only lasts for a few days - the experience remains forever !
