Default Gig Photos 2: Poppy Dust @ The Soundshell

well here's another go at gig photography. lots of other photographers there so really made the night out fun.

    environment:
    - lots of stage lights
    - good natural light (dusk 8pm-ish)
    - smoke machine for effect!

gotta say, outdoor was so much easier, felt like i had more control.

here are some photos, happy to get any comments and/or critique.

Gotta love it. Music and girls in pink bra's.

    Great shots.

I was in the gardens for the Saturday shows and I agree it is a great location if you want to practise gig photography as there is good lighting, plenty of space to move around, and no one getting precious about taking photos.

The photos are a little dark but not that much to ruin the effect.
    Cheers

Great stuff Jay! Will have to join you guys one night
I don't think the pictures are too dark overall, but contrasty (deep shadow areas) which gives them an edgy look.
    Lighten up!

thank you for the comments sooshee & bluerose.

Clarence, yup if the weather is good perhaps thursday/friday again if you're keen.

Also the only PP i did was to add a 'pop' seemed to have helped but i think the 'edgy' in your face tone was what i liked about it.

Awesome pics, random guy. Looks like you were pretty close to the action, hope you were wearing earplugs !

Really love the colour too, you seem to lose abit of the energy with B&W.

Number 6 looks great. Is that with one of your primes, or a WA?

thanks mesodan. yeah we were literally at their feet, it's great being up close like that. the series runs until the end of january i think if you're ever down this part of the country.

can't remember which lens was used for which, but the last was definitely with the 17-40
