I haven't looked at the actual book but it may be of use to some of you a bit hesitant about Photoshop. Download it from here:

I downloaded it. You have to register, so I used a throwaway email. It's a 4MB PDF, which I've virus scanned, it's clean. It's like a quick start guide, most of it too basic to be helpful. There would be a few things that might help a pure beginner to photoshop. At the end are a list of useful shortcuts, which I might print out, and a list of tutorials and other resources.
