Thanks for the link, there is some good stuff in there.

Also take a look at http://camerabag.tv/ if anyone would be interested in interviews with some up-and-coming film photographers in America. It's updated with a new person every couple of months.

The camera bag link is great, so inspiring to see interesting photographers! Haha all this money I've spent on digital gear when the analogue is just so appealing.

Yeah, it's probably just the director is into that sort of stuff, so zones in on that crowd.
I can guarantee that there are heaps of film photographers working in America who aren't skateboarders, even more in Japan. There is hardly a commercial photography industry, even less in the artistic field, in NZ beyond weddings/corporate so you won't find many film photog's out here, hence why prices are ridiculous. If you're familiar well known Japanese photog's who are working today, you'll find that 90% of them are working on film not digital.

Also, ilford film sales are officially up 8% worldwide this year already.

Give an Artist a box of different sized colour blocks and he will create an art work; give me the same box and I will sort it by colour and then size :)
