Tried to get some Autumn colours over the weekend. Still a few weeks before the majority of the trees start to turn.
Managed to get a few snaps

Had a play with my night shot of the Green Man. It is carved using a chainsaw by Andy Hancock of Texas (X Australia) in the body of a Deodar Cedar tree at the location which died from natural causes.
It was recently uprooted and the roots removed and remounted on a concrete plinth as the base was rotting.
It is representative of the Greenman in Welsh mythology. A symbol of Rebirth and the cycle of life.
My image printed in the local Rag during the refurbish of the base
I still haven't settled on how I want the final series of Photos of this to look I am experimenting at the moment, but it is an Iconic town image that I have a fascination with and as I say in my Sig I don't have an artistic eye, I have a technical bent.
I am tempted to sign off the company Odd Gang and have them come into town and backdrop it for me with a couple of scaffold poles and some clothing x the Pulp Machine which is a mid grey, but figure that may make it a bit stark and destroy the image.
Ideas welcome, critisim will be deniedbut read

Well since I am on an Enforced Leave from work, I have the odd bit of time on my hands (but only when its wet and Her Indoors Who Must be Obeyed is at work) so got out my 50mm f1.8 MkII and a flash.
Haven't really got a clue what I am doing, I have not had the chance to swot up on the lens (or for that my matter my flash) but sort of like what I got.
The subject is my old cat, he has been with me for 16 years, travelled round NZ in the motorhome with me for 4 years, was 10kg and all muscle those days, capable of catching opossums quite a belligerent tough old bugger he was, but sadly is in decline nowadays.

30 seconds I think, I used a remote flash to light the mid ground up so that froze the action.
