Apix had one come in and I'll have it in my hands later today, it will be interesting to see what it's like. And no it's not mine, I wish lol
Poor pre-order buyers, their cameras would have been tested to death before they receive them!
Let us know how the FF 6 fps goes.
Apparently same battery as the 7D, handy!

Congrats Dan, you're gonna love your primes even more now! Looking forward to some piccies and a review.
So what made you decide to stay with Canon and not get the D800 instead?
Ive just had 5 mins of playing with my mates MKIII.One thing I will say is, you really need to read the manual as the menu and layout are not the same as the MKIII and I found it tricky navigating around it, but that's more than likely a familiarity thing.Oh, and the view finder seems much sharper and clearer. The view finder is or seems much clearer than the MKII
Would need to be Jack - can't swap it out.
I have to say, I'm going to get one - and shock-horror, Cath says I can- but it'll be a few months...we are going to Vanuatu at the end of August and I hope to have it in my hands a little while before that to give me to time to familiarise my self with it.
Check out my Flickr account through Fluidr
and like i've already said if anyone feels inclined to sell their old MkII..here i am ..

Not sure I follow this. The D800 in 1.2x crop mode is 25MP and does 5fps (does not need vertical grip for that). So its only 1fps slower than the 5d3 while providing greater pixel density. Also has the full AF system of the D4 including all the colour tracking behaviour...
Anyway, you have a great set of lenses so the 5d3 will be excellent.
Nikon D600 and a bag full of prime goodness..
My MkII not for sale, hasn't done enough work yet... Would like mkIII but you can get a new MkII body for just a shade over the price of the new MkIII at the moment. Be interesting to see some proper reviews of just how much better the new camera is. 5K would buy a couple of very usefull new lenses. The new speedlight looked pretty trick with built in wireless incase anyone missed that announcement. Maybe the 5DMkIV will have the transmitter for it built in?![]()
I ordered one from progear over the weekend, they said they were out of stock
Then today I come home to a box with a new camera in it![]()

Its not too bad, similar enough to the 7d to figure it out. Haven't had to look at the manual at all yet, its still sealed in the box, so pretty easy.
First little bit of panic was I thought they didn't put the q menu in, but the button is in a different place than the 7d
DxOMark have just posted their 5DIII review/test. Mediocre results:

No great surprise there - the expected results have been known for some time.
Canon has not really evolved its sensors much in the last 5 years - only very small incremements.
What did surprise me yesterday is the new Nikon D3200.
1) Most of the promotional shots Nikon are using are clearly taken in New Zealand..!
2) The imagery of the 24MP sensor shows it is clearly different from the NEX 7 Sony Exmoor sensor. Its appearance is different from any other sensor Nikon has used. Results from that will be interesting.

Thats interesting JED. Surprising somewhat.
As for 5d3 and dxo yeah no surprise there. Looks like the 5D3 IQ improvements are all targeted at video.
