Got some money coming my way what to buy

Well I have a bit of settlement cash coming my way, now what to spend it on.

My Tamron 18-200 f3.5-5.6 Canon mount lens lives on my camera but I hanker for 2.8 glass.

I am lazy and dont like changing lenses in the field, so where do I go to spend my ill gotten gains?

I shoot anything that takes my attention, landscape, macro, portrait even bosses (but they wont issue me live ammo for the latter).

I am become the recipient of enough to buy me a heap of 5d mk3, but that is not where I am heading, a lot of the cash has to be squirrelled away. (my future is no longer ensured where I currently work)

Canon don't appear to make anything fast in the 18-200 area I am looking for. My choice of lens is because I do a lot of travel and the camera is always at hand for quick stop and shoot stuff. 75-200 2.8 will not cut it for me.

Yep it would be tempting to go FF but I figure I need to get technique and skill right with my current unit before going there for what it offers.

Her indoors who must be obeyed has limited how much I spend out of this little windfall but several k is possible (providing she gets a new car out of it)

Sigma 17-50 f2.8 is a good fast zoom. Cheaper than the canon 17-55 but optically very similar.

There isn't a super zoom that does 2.8 so if that focal range is the most important thing to you, you should just stick with the lens you have

Canon make a 28-300 L but it is pretty big and still only has a variable aperture which is 3.5 at best. It is also expensive and ideally would be on a full frame (28 on a crop is not very wide)

Yep my favourite focal length is out of the question at 2.8 so I guess a re think is needed. Guess I will have a look at my shooting history and see what focal lengths I tend to favour. (neat feature of light room is to be able to do this)

Did you just go around the houses with your response to my "how much to spend?" question or what? I'm still not sure what your budget for a lens is.

The budget is not fixed but is more determined by what the lens value is to me. several $k is possible. But I am looking for value for money

Dont spend anything until you know what you want to achieve.
